We all know social media is powerful - But how powerful? We want to find out so we have set up a test. This test involves making a video offering $100 to a random stranger pulled from a random social media profile. The catch? We aren’t going to tell him… You are.
We want everyone who reads this blog post or watches the video to go out and tell everyone about it by getting on your social profiles and spreading the word. We want to give this guy $100… All he has to do is friend me, Dave Winget - on facebook to verify that he read this blog post/saw the video about him.
Well, what are you waiting for guys? Do you want to help him out or not? I’m sure he’ll thank you for it
Be sure to tell all your friends about checking out the video at http://www.youtube.com/10kthings
If you do submit this video or post to any social media sites be sure to leave a link in the comments so other people can continue it.

It is a good idea to experiment. The $100 prize won’t make anyone go after it. Well almost anyone. The idea of a treasure hunt like this though is a cool one. Keep coming up with unusual and novel ideas and something will hit for you guaranteed.

@Federal Watch - The idea is that since everyone is so connected with social media - or know people who are who know people who are that eventually someone that knows this person would see it and tell him about it.

$100 is not much. And here in Europe it is even less! Definitely not worth looking for him.
Offer something bigger (like a mac book) and you can expect a much greater feedback from the blogosphere.

@Malte - We know $100 bucks isn’t much. The original idea was a larger sum. This is not only testing the power of social media - It has become a test of the altruistic nature of social media users as well (as the first idea had a raffle type prize for people who spread the word at the end - but that is pretty much against all social network’s TOS’s).
It also can now be a series of videos - raising the price tag if he is not found in a reasonable amount of time.
Regardless of price, you have to admit $100 is better than $0 for doing nothing
